AFCON 2027Q: Iwobi voted MOTM in Super Eagles’ win over Madagascar

Alex Iwobi was voted Man of the Match following Nigeria’s hard-earned 2-1 victory over the Barea of Madagascar in Uyo on Friday night.

The Super Eagles rallied from one goal down to claim maximum points in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations Matchday 1 encounter.

Iwobi set up debutant George Ilenikhena for Nigeria’s equalising goal in the 45th minute.

The Fulham of England star, who was in action for the entire duration of the game, combined well with captain Wilfred Ndidi in the middle of the park.

The game was Iwobi’s 101st appearance for the three-time African champions.

He will hope to carry his impressive form into Nigeria’s next game against Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday.
