IBADAN — The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) senatorial candidate for Oyo Central, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has called for unity and stronger grassroots mobilisation among party leaders, candidates and supporters ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ajadi made the call on Sunday during a stakeholders’ engagement across Oluyole, Akinyele/Lagelu and Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituencies, where he met with party leaders, women and youth leaders, candidates and other supporters.
The engagements formed part of his “Thank-You Tour” to appreciate party members for their support and strengthen the party’s grassroots structure ahead of the commencement of the official campaign.
Ajadi thanked the party leadership, council and ward leaders, women and youth leaders and other stakeholders for their support, saying the visits were primarily aimed at expressing gratitude and strengthening relationships among members.
He also assured the people of Oyo Central that, if elected to the Senate, he would provide effective representation and work for the development and welfare of constituents across the senatorial district.
The candidate urged all APM candidates to cooperate with one another, stressing that victory in 2027 would require unity, coordination and collective effort.
The Director-General of the Ajadi campaign structure, Hon. Sikiru Sanda, described the tour as an important step towards building a formidable political team ahead of the election.
Sanda said Ajadi had earlier engaged House of Representatives and State House of Assembly candidates, as well as party and council chairmen, on the need to visit party members and stakeholders to appreciate their support before the commencement of the official campaign.
He said the political arrangements that produced the various candidates underscored the importance of accommodation, diplomacy and unity within the party.
According to him, Ajadi had demonstrated loyalty and maturity by remaining committed to the APM despite the political arrangements.
At Oluyole Federal Constituency, the council chairman and APM House of Representatives candidate, Akeem Olatunji, welcomed Ajadi and his entourage and pledged the commitment of leaders and stakeholders to the party.
He urged members to maintain the unity required to secure victory for the party in 2027.
Hon. Depo Oyedokun Lawal expressed confidence in Ajadi’s electoral prospects, saying the unity among party members in Oluyole would translate into support for the senatorial candidate and other APM candidates.
Another party leader, Hon. Abdulmojeed Olawale Mogbonjubola, popularly known as Jagaban, also expressed support for Ajadi, citing his political antecedents as an indication of his capacity to represent the district.
At Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency, the Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon. Akinwole Ayobami Akinleye, popularly known as Wole Akinleye, received the delegation at a meeting attended by party leaders, council and party chairmen, women and youth leaders and the APM House of Representatives candidate.
The APM Chairman for Oyo Central, Hon. Dayo Opadokun, commended Ajadi for what he described as efforts to reconcile and unite members during a period of political uncertainty.
Opadokun urged members to work together and support all APM candidates contesting the Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly seats.
Some leaders at the meeting also urged Ajadi to prioritise inclusive representation and remain accessible to constituents if elected.
High Chief Akinropo Aderibigbe prayed for the success of Ajadi and other APM candidates, while Chief Oribayo Okeyode urged the senatorial candidate to remain committed to the people of Oyo Central if elected to the National Assembly.
The final leg of the tour took the delegation to Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, where party leaders and stakeholders from the two local governments received the team.
The meeting was attended by women and youth leaders, former political office holders, party executives and the APM House of Representatives candidate for Egbeda/Ona-Ara, Hon. Ezekiel Temitope Oladimeji, popularly known as Otope.
Otope appreciated party leaders and members for their support and assured them that all stakeholders would be carried along when the official campaign begins.
Other speakers, including Alhaji Muftau Ogunremi and Hon. Sikiru Busari Olayemi, called for unity and urged members to resolve grievances internally while working together to deliver their respective polling units.
The three constituency engagements featured prayers, goodwill messages and calls for greater cooperation among candidates and party structures.
Party leaders also urged members to intensify grassroots mobilisation and sensitise voters about the APM ahead of the 2027 elections.
The tour therefore served both as an appreciation exercise and an opportunity to strengthen relationships among party leaders, candidates and supporters across Oyo Central.
