Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has arrived at the Kaduna State High Court for continuation of proceedings in his alleged fraud case.
In a footage shared on X, the ex-governor was seen exchanging pleasantries with the African Democratic Congress, ADC, governorship candidate, Isa Kudan, before proceeding into the courtroom for the resumption of his trial.
Tuesday’s proceedings come amid continuing legal battles over El-Rufai’s detention, his unsuccessful efforts to secure bail in the Kaduna State case and a separate controversy involving a medical report submitted in support of his request for release.
The development also follows the Court of Appeal’s dismissal of his latest bail challenge, leaving the lower court’s decision refusing to release him in place.
Recall that Justice Darius Khobo fixed the next hearing for noon and directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, which has custody of the former governor, to produce him in court for the continuation of proceedings.
El-Rufai is being tried for alleged corruption, financial fraud, abuse of office, and money laundering by the ICPC.
