Aminu Wushishi: Information Minister, Idris reacts to death of NPC chairman

Daily Post about 3 hours 2 mins read

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has expressed shock and sorrow over the demise of Dr Aminu Yusuf Wushishi, chairman of the National Population Commission, NPC.

The Minister, in a statement signed by his Special Assistant, Media, Rabiu Ibrahim, on Friday, said: “I received the heartbreaking news of Dr Aminu Yusuf Wushishi’s passing with profound sadness. His death represents a significant loss for the National Population Commission, the public service, and the entire nation.”

Idris described the late NPC chairman as a close associate and a dedicated public servant whose commitment to national development was evident during his brief tenure at the Commission.

He noted that Dr Wushishi had embarked on a mission to conduct a credible, technology-driven Population and Housing Census aimed at providing reliable data for national planning, which was central to his agenda upon taking office.

“His plans and commitment to delivering a credible and technology-driven census showed his deep sense of responsibility and his determination to make a lasting contribution to Nigeria’s development,” Idris said.

He expressed his condolences to the Government and people of Niger State, as well as the people of Wushishi, where the late Chairman held the esteemed traditional title of Talban Wushishi.

The Minister also offered his sympathies to the deceased’s family, colleagues, friends, and staff of the NPC, praying that Allah grants them the fortitude to endure the loss.

He prayed that Allah forgive the deceased’s shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and provide comfort to all those grieving his passing.
