Anita Fabiola named cohost for Miss Uganda 2026 grand finale

Kampala — Organisers have named Ugandan actress, event host and former beauty queen Anita Fabiola as the official cohost of the Miss Uganda 2026 grand finale, set for Saturday, 10 October, at Sheraton Kampala Hotel Gardens.

Speke Events chief executive Eddie Agaba announced the appointment on Tuesday, describing Fabiola as an actress, entrepreneur and the 2013 Miss West titleholder who finished as first runner-up in that year’s national pageant. Promotional material released with the announcement lists her as the official host of the evening, which begins at 6pm and will be broadcast live on StarTimes Uganda’s Makula KiKa channel on Channel 229 and Channel 493.

The finale closes the pageant’s 15th edition. The search opened in late July with regional tours that produced five automatic finalists: Shamsa Nalumu (Central), Faith Magero Nabirye (Eastern), Eunice Amelia Alum (Northern), Prudence Bridget Nakato (West Nile) and Angel Liz Murungi (Western). Seventeen more contestants joined them at a presentation night held at the same hotel on 18 September, bringing the field to 22.

A public popularity vote on Africa Votes remains open. The contestant who receives the most votes will secure an automatic place in the top five at the finale. Miss Uganda Foundation chief executive Brenda Nanyonjo has framed the anniversary edition around leadership and opportunity rather than appearance alone, saying the pageant’s record over 15 years includes lives transformed and young women prepared for roles beyond the crown.

Fabiola is already familiar to this year’s contestants. Miss Uganda Official named her a judge for the Kampala preselection earlier in the cycle. She first rose through the pageant system in 2013, later hosting NTV’s Be My Date, appearing in local and regional productions including Second Chance and Escape from Uganda, and presenting major African red-carpet events. She has also served as a goodwill tourism ambassador for the Uganda Tourism Board’s Tulambule campaign.

Oppein Home is the lead sponsor. Partner sponsors include V&A Sherry, Vaseline, CHINT, Uhome, Evervess and 7 Days International, with StarTimes handling the live broadcast. Early-bird tickets are listed at Shs70,000, ordinary tickets at Shs100,000, VIP at Shs3 million and VVIP at Shs4 million, according to the organisers’ publicity material. Table reservations are being handled through the numbers published on the event poster.

The reigning titleholder is Trivia Elle Muhoza. The winner on 10 October will represent Uganda at Miss World. Organisers say the evening will combine the final judging, sponsor activations and a celebration of Ugandan beauty and talent, continuing a format already used at the September presentation night, which featured performances and a toast marking the pageant’s 15 years.
