APC lawmaker petitions appeal committee over alleged irregularities in Eggon East HOA primaries

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

A serving member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Jacob Ajegena Kudu, has called on the All Progressives Congress, APC, to ensure a credible and transparent primary election process in Nassarawa Eggon East Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Kudu, who is seeking a second term in office, made the appeal in a petition addressed to the party’s Appeal Committee and dated Thursday, May 21, 2027.

In the petition, the lawmaker alleged that no valid primary election was conducted in the constituency and urged the committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the exercise and ensure fairness for all aspirants involved.

According to him, he had completed all the necessary preparations for the primary on the scheduled date, only to discover that the exercise did not hold as expected.

Kudu further claimed that the Returning Officer assigned to supervise the election and receive electoral materials was absent throughout the process.

He explained that when he contacted the Local Government Chairman for clarification, he was informed that the chairman was out of town and reportedly in Gudi at the time of the exercise.

The lawmaker said the situation has raised serious concerns over transparency, due process, and fairness in the conduct of the party’s primaries in Eggon East Constituency.

He maintained that denying party members and aspirants the opportunity to participate in a free and fair primary election contradicts the democratic principles and constitutional provisions of the APC.

Kudu appealed to the committee to urgently intervene, address the alleged injustice, and protect the integrity of the party’s internal democratic process, while reaffirming his loyalty and commitment to the APC.
