APC primaries: Court to hear Senator Kaura’s appeal against Shinkafi Tuesday

Daily Post about 1 hour 1 mins read

The Court of Appeal sitting in Sokoto has fixed Tuesday, October 6, 2026, to hear an appeal arising from the dispute over the All Progressives Congress, APC, Zamfara North Senatorial District primary election.

The case involves Senator Sahabi Ya’u Kaura and Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi.

The appellate court, in a letter referenced CA/S/239/2026, scheduled the hearing for Tuesday.

The dispute followed a judgment by the Federal High Court in Gusau, which nullified the APC senatorial primary conducted in Zamfara North on May 19, 2026.

Shinkafi had challenged the conduct of the primary, alleging irregularities and the absence of a valid APC senatorial primary in the district.

On August 31, 2026, the Federal High Court ordered the conduct of a fresh APC primary in Zamfara North within 14 days of the judgment.

Dissatisfied with the ruling, Kaura appealed the judgment at the Court of Appeal in Sokoto.

The appellate court is now set to hear the appeal on Tuesday.
