APC Primaries: Sokoto picks 10 Reps candidates by consensus

Daily Post about 1 hour 1 mins read

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Sokoto State on Saturday conducted affirmation exercises for aspirants in 10 of the state’s 11 House of Representatives constituencies ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The APC Chairman in the state, Haruna Adiya, said only Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency would hold a competitive primary election involving two aspirants.

Adiya said the remaining constituencies adopted the consensus affirmation process in line with the party’s arrangements for the primaries.

He added that security measures were put in place to ensure a peaceful exercise across the state, including areas facing security challenges.

In Sokoto North/Sokoto South Federal Constituency, the incumbent lawmaker, Bala Hassan, was affirmed as the party’s candidate.

Speaking after the exercise, Hassan thanked party members for their support and pledged continued representation of the constituency.

The Chairman of the Election and Affirmation Committee for Sokoto North/Sokoto South, Faruk Wurno, said the exercise was conducted in accordance with the APC constitution.

He commended party members for the peaceful conduct recorded during the exercise.
