Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, has won the gubernatorial primaries of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Nasarawa State.

Senator Wadada, who currently represents Nasarawa West in the Nigerian Senate, polled 196,090 to secure the party’s gubernatorial ticket for the 2027 general elections.

He won all the local government areas of the state except Keana, where he was defeated by his main challenger, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, a former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), who scored 4,900 votes.

The former police chief, who enjoys the support of former Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, polled a total of 42,397 votes.

Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada had, prior to the exercise held on Thursday, May 21, been endorsed by Governor Abdullahi Alhaji Sule as his preferred choice of successor.
