BAUCHI — The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has commenced its campaign for the 2027 general elections, presenting Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Alhaji Lawal Daura, as its presidential and vice-presidential candidates.
The party unveiled the ticket on Thursday at its National Elective Convention in Bauchi, where Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, was also inaugurated as the party’s National Leader.
Addressing delegates and supporters at the convention, Makinde said Nigeria needed a credible political alternative capable of offering practical solutions to the country’s challenges.
He said the 2027 elections should focus on measurable improvements in job creation, agriculture, healthcare and economic opportunities for young Nigerians.
Makinde urged voters to assess political leaders based on their ability to improve livelihoods and strengthen national security.
He also renewed his call for the restructuring of Nigeria’s federal system through the devolution of more powers to state governments.
In his acceptance speech, Mohammed pledged to transform the APM into an inclusive national political platform with a strong grassroots presence.
He endorsed the Makinde-Daura ticket, describing it as a combination of administrative experience and security expertise capable of addressing the country’s security and economic challenges.
The newly elected National Chairman of the APM, Alhaji Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, said the party was focused on expanding its support base across the country ahead of the 2027 elections.
Dantalle said the party’s objective was not merely to participate in the elections but to win and provide effective governance by addressing the country’s major developmental challenges.
