Army calls for stronger inter-agency collaboration to tackle insecurity

The Nigerian Army has called for stronger collaboration among security agencies to effectively tackle the country’s security challenges, including insurgency, terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and militancy.

The Commander of the 4 Special Forces Command, Doma, Nasarawa State, Major General Olurotimi Awolo, made the call on Monday while declaring open the week-long Command Operations Planning Cadre 2026.

Awolo said Nigeria’s security threats differ across regions and require specialised responses, training and coordination among personnel operating in various theatres of operation.

He explained that the training programme was designed to equip personnel within the command’s area of responsibility with the operational knowledge needed to effectively address emerging security threats.

The cadre, themed “Tactical Leadership Capacity Building and Multi-Agency Approach to Asymmetric Operations in Joint Operations Area,” brought together participants from formations and units of the Armed Forces, as well as other relevant security agencies.

According to Awolo, the inclusion of other security agencies was aimed at fostering integrated efforts in confronting the country’s numerous security challenges.

“The essence of including other security agencies in this training programme was necessitated by the notion that confronting the numerous security challenges across the nation requires integrated collaboration among all relevant stakeholders in the security domain,” he said.

He noted that the initiative aligns with the command philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, which seeks to transform the Nigerian Army into a professional, adaptable and combat-ready force capable of operating effectively in a joint and multi-agency environment.

Awolo urged participants to pay close attention to presentations on inter-agency cooperation and logistics planning, stressing that the knowledge acquired would enhance operational effectiveness in future deployments.

He also appreciated the Chief of Army Staff for approving and funding the programme and commended resource persons and senior military officers for their contributions.

The commander charged participants to apply the lessons from the training to address operational challenges and improve security operations across the country.
