through Riccardo Calafiori, and substitute Bruno Guimaraes scored what turned out to be the winner after a finely crafted team goal.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The focus returned to the pitch on Saturday after the bombshell announcement that City had been found guilty of more than 100 breaches of Premier League financial rules.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But Arsenal, who had a perfect record before their 3-0 defeat by Brighton last month, struggled to break down Daniel Farke’s physical team in the first half.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Noni Madueke, overlooked by Thomas Tuchel for England’s most recent squad, was handed a rare start on the left of the Gunners’ attack in place of the injured Christos Tzolis.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But neither he nor Bukayo Saka on the other flank had much joy against a defence that had conceded just class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First, Jayden Bogle and Anton Stach got in each other’s way as Stach struck the ball against his teammate, and Bogle was denied from close range by Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya, who was out quickly to smother his shot.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then Raya got down smartly to keep out a shot from Leeds defender Gabriel Gudmundsson from a tight angle.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Arsenal managed just one shot on target in the whole of the first half but the game opened up after the break, with chances at both ends.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Impressive Leeds midfielder Ao Tanaka forced Raya to tip over before Justin put his side ahead in the 55th minute, finishing sweetly from just inside the box after a Gudmundsson cross following a well-worked move down the left.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes got a touch with his head but failed to keep the ball out of the net.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the Gunners were back level just seven minutes later when the unmarked Calafiori finished past England international goalkeeper James Trafford after being set up by Ben White.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Worse was to come for him believe “we’re going to win the appeal”.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>In his 15-minute press conference ahead of Sunday’s game at Liverpool said: 9”Man City’s achievements are “absolutely not” tainted. \u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>The independent commission found that between 2009\u002F10 and 2017\u002F18, Man City arranged “sham” contracts with a number of its commercial partners as part of a “disguised funding scheme” to artificially inflate the club’s revenues by £830m.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Last Friday, City confirmed their appeal because they are “innocent” and described the judgement against them as “opinion” and claimed it “contains clear material errors, of law, principle and fact and is unsafe”.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Maresca, who was assistant to Pep Guardiola in the 2022\u002F23 treble-winning season, replaced the Spaniard as head coach this summer.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Asked if he would still have joined the club had the verdict been released earlier, he replied: “I know the organisation from years ago. I know how serious they are. Otherwise you send the wrong message to anyone in the future,” John Gibbons of Liverpool podcast The Anfield Wrap told AFP.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“There can’t be any trust now, certainly not if there’s not an admission of guilt. For me, I don’t see how Manchester City continue in the league.”\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the past 12 years, Liverpool have finished second to City on three
