The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has taken a swipe at the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare.
This is following Dare’s criticism of the ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, over his promise to restore the petrol subsidy if elected president in 2027.
In a statement posted on X by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC said it was not all about throwing insults at the opposition but about doing the right thing for Nigerians.
Atiku had pledged to reinstate the fuel subsidy regime if elected president of Nigeria in 2027.
Reacting, Dare accused Atiku of political opportunism, stating that his proposal amounted to a reversal of the position he held during the 2023 presidential election.
The presidential aide added that Atiku’s hypocrisy was an insult to the collective intelligence of a resilient populace navigating global economic headwinds.
According to him, the “desperate gambit” would fail, and all citizens of conscience must rise up to soundly repudiate such political innuendo.
Responding, the ADC spokesman said, “My brother, Sunny, take am easy o. It’s not enough to throw insults around and gaslight Nigerians.
“You guys had three years to demonstrate to Nigerians how the removal of the fuel subsidy makes sense.”
