Ballon d’Or 2026: Garcia snubs Lamine Yamal, Rodri, names player who should win award

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

Real Betis defender, Fran Garcia, has named the player he believes should win the Ballon d’Or this year.

Speaking to El Larguero, Garcia snubbed Barcelona players Lamine Yamal and Rodri as he named Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Fabian Ruiz to win the Ballon d’Or.

The 2026 Ballon d’Or will be presented in London later this month, and Ruiz, Yamal and Rodri are among the 30 players shortlisted for the award.

“I’d pick someone from the national team [to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or]. Fabian Ruiz, Rodri, Lamine… They have all got their merits,” Garcia said.

When asked to name his final choice to win the Ballon d’Or, Garcia added, “For me, it’s Fabian.”

Ruiz had a fantastic season with club and country as he won the World Cup with Spain and the UEFA Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain.
