Ballon d’Or 2026: He did extraordinary things – Fabio Cannavaro names player to win award

Daily Post 20 minutes 1 mins read

Italy legend, Fabio Cannavaro has named the player he believes should win the 2026 Ballon d’Or.

The winner of this year’s Ballon d’Or will be announced in London on October 26.

However, Cannavaro believes Paris Saint-Germain winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia deserves to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or because he did extraordinary things for his club in the UEFA Champions League last season.

The former Juventus and Real Madrid defender placed the Georgia international ahead of high-profile candidates such as Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.

Speaking about his choice for the Ballon d’Or, Cannavaro told Gazzetta: “I have a good memory. I don’t just focus on the most recent events.

“In last season’s Champions League, Kvaratskhelia was the most influential player from a footballing standpoint, and if I had to choose, I would have no doubt.

“Everyone may use the World Cup as their benchmark, think of Mbappe or consider Messi and his career, but Kvara did extraordinary things.”
