Ballon d’Or 2026: He’s number one favourite – William Gallas picks player to win award

Daily Post 1 day 1 mins read

Former Arsenal defender, William Gallas, has picked the player to win the Ballon d’Or this year.

The winner of the 2026 Ballon d’Or will be announced on October 26  in London.

Paris Saint-Germain and France forward Ousmane Dembele is the player who won the last edition of the Ballon d’Or in 2025.

Speaking on the player to win the Ballon d’Or this year, Gallas ruled out England’s Harry Kane and picked Spain’s Lamine Yamal.

According to the former Chelsea star, Yamal is the number one favourite for the prestigious individual prize because he won both the World Cup.

“Harry Kane didn’t have a great, great World Cup. Even if he scored goals, his World Cup was not the best. So, forget about Harry Kane winning the Ballon d’Or,” Gallas told iPredicta (as quoted by Yahoo Sports).

“You have to be focused on players like Lamine Yamal, who I think is the number one because he won the World Cup and his performances were good, despite having an injury at the start.”
