A Supervisory Councillor for Special Duties in Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Lamido Muhammad, has been abducted alongside his two sons by suspected bandits.
The two sons were identified as Aliyu Lamido and Amir Lamido. Their whereabouts remain unknown as the abductors took them to an undisclosed location.
According to a source, the assailants invaded Muhammad’s residence in Wucicciri, Abba area of Zaria, around midnight on Sunday and abducted the three family members.
The source said the incident had heightened concerns over persistent abductions and the safety of residents in the area.
The source lamented that the abductors had yet to contact the family to state their demands or request a ransom.
The source called on the authorities to take decisive action to protect lives and restore security, questioning how long families would continue to live in fear of abduction.
The incident adds to growing concerns over insecurity in parts of Kaduna State and the wider North-West, where armed groups have continued to carry out kidnappings and attacks on communities.
The Kaduna State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, could not be reached for comment, as calls to his phone were unanswered.
