Suspected bandits have abducted a resident, identified as Alhaji Yusuf Bazamfare, and set ablaze a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) outpost as well as a residential building during an attack on Tsamiya community in Kebbi State.

The incident was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the spokesperson of the Kebbi State Police Command, SP Bashir Usman.

According to the statement, the attackers stormed the community on the night of Saturday, June 20, 2026, shooting sporadically and causing panic among residents.

The police said the assailants burnt down an NSCDC checkpoint and the house of one Sule Mai Goge before fleeing the area.

“In the course of the attack, the bandits abducted one Alhaji Yusuf Bazamfare and escaped to an unknown destination,” the statement said.

Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State ordered the immediate deployment of additional security personnel to the community to strengthen security and safeguard lives and property.

The command added that efforts were ongoing to rescue the abducted victim and track down those responsible for the attack.

“The police, in collaboration with other security agencies, have commenced investigations and intensified operations aimed at rescuing the kidnapped victim and bringing the perpetrators to justice,” the statement added.

Residents have been urged to remain calm and continue providing useful information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities in the area.
