Daily Post 1 day 2 mins read

There was palpable tension in Aujarawar Alkali community in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State after armed bandits stormed the village and abducted its traditional ruler, Alhaji Ahmad Yakubu Ahmad, popularly known as Ruwata Midnight.

Eyewitnesses said the traditional leader was whisked away during a late-night raid on Thursday, September 17, 2026, after the attackers reportedly invaded the community with sophisticated weapons and fled with him to an unknown destination.

The incident was confirmed on Friday in a statement by Mahi Ismail, spokesperson to the Zannan Kano and the District Head of Jogana, who described the incident as a threat to the peace of the area.

According to the statement, the attack has plunged residents into fear and uncertainty, with families and community leaders expressing concern over the safety of the abducted village head.

Reacting to the incident, the District Head of Jogana, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ma’aji, urged security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the monarch’s immediate rescue and reinforce security across vulnerable rural communities.

“We appeal to security operatives to strengthen the protection of lives and property and do everything possible to ensure the safe return of our village head,” the district head said.

He also called on residents to remain calm and law-abiding while supporting ongoing security efforts through vigilance and cooperation with relevant authorities.

Ma’aji further urged the public to pray for the safe release of Alhaji Ahmad Yakubu Ahmad, expressing hope that the abducted monarch would soon reunite with his family and the people of Aujarawar Alkali.

However, the Kano Police Command is yet to make a statement or react to the incident.
