Bauchi APM dissolves executives, appoints seven-member caretaker committee

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

The National Working Committee of the Allied Peoples Movement has dissolved all its executive committees in Bauchi State, from the ward to state levels, and appointed a seven-member caretaker committee to oversee the party’s affairs.

The party’s National Organising Secretary, Hamza Koshe Akuyam, announced the decision on Tuesday, in Bauchi, during the inauguration of the caretaker committee at the Government House.

Akuyam said the dissolution followed developments within the party in recent weeks, adding that the decision was taken at a meeting of the National Working Committee and subsequently ratified by the National Executive Council on Saturday.

He explained that the caretaker committee would oversee the party’s activities for one month and organise congresses to elect new executives at all levels.

According to him, the exercise is expected to produce a unified leadership following the merger of two party structures in the state.

“I am standing here on behalf of the National Chairman, the National Working Committee and members of NEC to conduct this swearing-in ceremony,” Akuyam said.

In his acceptance speech, the caretaker committee chairman, Shehu Adaji, promised to promote transparency, inclusiveness and unity in the party.

Adaji thanked the NWC, led by the National Chairman, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, for entrusting the committee with the responsibility of managing the party’s affairs in Bauchi State.

He also acknowledged the support of the party’s national leader and Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, in facilitating the appointment.

The chairman said the committee would focus on rebuilding the party’s grassroots structures, reconciling aggrieved members and improving cooperation between the state leadership and officials at the ward and local government levels.

He described ward and local government executives as vital to the party’s growth, adding that the committee would work with stakeholders to ensure broad participation in its activities.

“We call on stakeholders and party members to put aside personal differences and work together for a united, disciplined and better organised APM in Bauchi State,” Adaji said.

He assured party members that the committee would operate in line with the party’s constitution and directives from its national leadership.

Other members of the caretaker committee are Bello Mahmoud, Isiyaku Abdullahi, Lubabatu Ibrahim, Adamu Shuaibu, Mantuda Halan and Buhari Gentle.
