The visitation panels for Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, Bauchi (ATAP) and Aminu Saleh College of Education, Azare, have been inaugurated with a charge to members to thoroughly assess the institutions and recommend measures to address identified challenges.

Inaugurating the panels at Government House, Bauchi, the State Deputy Governor, Auwal Jatau, mandated them to assess the academic, infrastructural, administrative and financial readiness of the two institutions, particularly in view of the expansion of programmes, including independent degree programmes and the Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE), alongside their existing qualifications and statutory mandates.

Jatau charged the members to investigate staff disagreements, union friction and administrative bottlenecks, stressing that the government would not tolerate infighting capable of undermining academic excellence, peace and institutional development.

He said the panels were expected to review the institutions’ finances, internally generated revenue, human resources, curricula, facilities, staff qualifications, welfare, regulatory compliance and management relationships, while recommending practical solutions to identified challenges.

He also called on the management, staff and students of both institutions to cooperate fully with the panels and promptly disclose any acts of wrongdoing or practices capable of impeding the progress of the institutions.

Speaking on behalf of the members, the Chairman of the Visitation Panel for ATAP, Professor Abdurrahman Saminu Ibrahim, assured that the panel would objectively assess funding, staffing, student welfare and infrastructure, while identifying challenges requiring government intervention.

He commended the state government for the initiative and pledged to produce a comprehensive report with practical recommendations.

The panels are expected to submit their comprehensive reports within eight weeks
