The Bauchi State Government has commissioned 20 digital 4D ultrasound machines and 73 anti-shock garments worth N625 million for distribution to health facilities across the state.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony held at the Government House, Bauchi, recently, the deputy governor, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Awwal Jatau, said the intervention will boost maternal and child health, reiterating the administration’s commitment to quality and standardized healthcare delivery for women and children.

The equipment, procured under the World Bank-supported IMPACT project in 2025, had suffered distribution delays due to logistics challenges now resolved, according to the Executive Chairman of the State Primary Healthcare Board, Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed.

Project Focal Person, Dr. Adamu Mohammed, said the 20 multifunctional 4D machines, costing N600 million, will go to the 20 General Hospitals and can perform obstetric, abdominal, pelvic, Doppler and echocardiography scans with 360-degree imaging for more accurate diagnosis.

The 73 anti-shock garments, worth N25 million, will go to high-volume primary healthcare centres to temporarily control postpartum hemorrhage and prevent shock before referral.

He said the project will provide free scans for about 30,000 pregnant women in the next three months.
