Serigne Touba’s granddaughter sues Sheikh Bethio’s wife Sokhna Aïda Diallo
Sokhna Mame Khary Mbacké daughter of Serigne Touba’s son Serigne Mourtadha, has lodged a legal complaint against Sokhna Aïda Diallo, wife of Sheikh Bethio Thioune and the woman who has appropriated leadership of the followers of Sheikh Bethio. Sokhna Mame Khary is accusing Sokhna Aïda of committing offences that are deeply offensive to Serigne Touba through public statements or actions. The legal action comes after Sokhna Aïda’s controversial visit to Serigne Sidy Abdou Lahad Mbacké in Touba last Saturday. The caliph of the Mourides Serigne Mountakha Mbacké had earlier declared Sokhna Aïda as persona non grata in Touba. Man who confessed to committing murder on TikTok arrested
A video showing a young man confessing, during a TikTok live stream, to killing someone to get rich sparked outrage on social media. Speaking in Pulaar, the suspect claimed to be in the Kaffrine region. Consequently, Prosecutor Cheikh Faye, head of the prosecutor’s office in Ndoucoumane, Saloum ordered the head of the Kaolack Research Section to open an investigation, according to Seneweb sources. Marabout, 74, accused of using mystical practices to extort money arrested
A 74-year-old marabout has been arrested by Nguinth police in Thiés, accused of swindling two people by using mystical tricks and sleight of hand. In July, O Gaye, claiming to be a marabout and homeless, entered K Diagne’s hair salon in Nguinth and asked her for a glass of water and offered prayers for her. He then miraculously transformed three pieces of paper into a 5 FCFA coin, a 500 FCFA note, and a 10,000 FCFA note and gave them to the young woman to thank her for her hospitality. She claimed to have immediately fallen into a state of total psychological submission, completely deprived of her free will. Under this influence, she went without hesitation to his home to retrieve a gold ring and 170,000 FCFA in cash, which she handed over to the suspect. It was only after the old man left that K Diagne regained her senses and realized that she had been the victim of a spell and a scam. On 22nd August Gaye went to the shop of S Ka, a 36-year-old shopkeeper living in Nguinth and asked for food. Before leaving, Gaye gave the shopkeeper strict instructions: do not open the bucket for three hours. When Ka eventually opened the container, he discovered it was completely empty.
