Big Brother Naija Season 11 housemate, Nomy, has been disqualified from the reality show after repeatedly failing to comply with Big Brother’s rules and instructions.
Nomy, whose real name is Whitney Nneoma Chukwu, was ordered to leave the ‘Show Ya Sef’ house on Monday, after her latest breach involving the Benchwarmer punishment.
She had been directed to use a designated bench and wear a vest after finishing last in a recent Head of House challenge. However, Big Brother confronted her after she abandoned both the bench and vest.
“Why have you left your bench and vest behind, what’s your intention?” Big Brother asked.
The latest incident came after several previous warnings over Nomy’s conduct in the house.
Earlier in the season, she was punished for failing to observe the conditions of her Benchwarmer role, which included wearing the assigned outfit, remaining on the designated bench and carrying out cleaning duties.
On August 9, Big Brother issued her a strike, describing it as her “last and final warning” over her continued defiance.
Although some of the Benchwarmer restrictions were later relaxed following an apology, Nomy subsequently faced further cautions over lateness, disobedience and failure to participate in some mandatory activities.
Her latest violation ultimately resulted in her removal from the competition. She was given 30 minutes to pack her belongings and leave the house.
Nomy’s disqualification makes her the first housemate to be removed on disciplinary grounds this season. She is also no longer eligible for the ₦160 million grand prize.
Her exit comes a day after Gerard Adebija was evicted during Sunday’s live show, leaving 15 housemates in the competition.
Nomy, 26, is a fashion designer and entrepreneur from Anambra State who was raised in Lagos. She is associated with the fashion brand Ambition by Witme and has a background in sociology, having studied in Kumasi, Ghana.
During her time on the show, her outspoken personality and repeated clashes over house rules made her one of the more talked-about contestants, dividing viewers between those who defended her and others who felt her punishment was justified.
With her disqualification, Nomy’s bid for the ₦160 million prize has come to an abrupt end as the remaining housemates continue their race towards the season finale.
