Benue Govt Sets August Operation Target For Taraku Mills

Channels TV about 2 hours 2 mins read

The Benue State Government has set August 2026 for the processing of Soya vegetable oil, feeds, and manure as revitalisation work on Taraku Mills, which was established in 1989 but abandoned since 2009.

The Group Managing Director of Benue Investment Property Company (BIPC), Raymond Asemakaha, who is leading the industrialisation programme of the Alia Administration, disclosed this during an inspection tour of the facility, which is undergoing maintenance.

Asemakaha noted that the plant will create more jobs and wealth for farmers, encouraging them to step up cultivation.

“I assure you that all Benue Government assets will be revitalised so that more jobs will be created. Let our farmers step up soya bean cultivation to feed the plant because we will be off taking them all from the farmers,” he said.

The team toured the facility with most of the equipment and spare parts still intact, as the plant engineer from the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment,  Terngu Ikyuve,  said that the maintenance works show the plant is viable for production with great prospects

“We already commenced maintenance work on the plant, and in one month, this plant will start operations,” Ikyuve said.

Taraku Mills, which was established in 1989, was Benue’s biggest processing factory, with product lines ranging from vegetable oil, feeds, and other agro-allied products, which the Benue State Government is looking to restore.
