Blackburn Rovers forward eager for Super Eagles chance

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

Blackburn Rovers striker Dapo Afolayan has expressed his desire to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Afolayan was in born London, England to Nigerian parents.

The 29-year-old has represented England once, as a non-FIFA senior representative side.

This, however, does not prevent him from playing for Nigeria at a senior international level.

The versatile player hopes he will get the chance to represent Nigeria before the end of his career.

“I’d love to play for Nigeria. It’s always been something I wanted to do since I was a kid. I’ve been really close and timing has been unfortunate in a few cases,” Afolayan told Blackburn Rovers official website.

Afolayan joined Sky Bet Championship club Blackburn Rovers from FC St. Pauli in January 2026.

He has been in fantastic form for the club this season scoring three goals, and providing two assists in eight league appearances.
