Blackout hits Lagos as TCN announces maintenance exercise

Daily Post about 1 hour 1 mins read

Parts of Lagos will experience a blackout on Tuesday as the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, carries out a planned maintenance exercise on its Ikeja West/Ejigbo 132kV Transmission Line 1 at the Ejigbo Transmission Substation.

TCN disclosed this in a notice on Tuesday.

According to the company, the outage will last from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

TCN explained that the outage would affect approximately 40 megawatts of load at the Ejigbo Transmission Substation during the maintenance period.

“The outage is necessary to enable TCN’s maintenance crew to carry out routine maintenance on the Ikeja West/Ejigbo 132kV Transmission Line 1.

“The Ikeja West/Ejigbo 132kV Transmission Line 2 will also be taken out of service to provide a safe working space for the maintenance crew.

“However, Airport load will be diverted to the Isolo Transmission Line to minimise the impact of the outage,” TCN stated.
