The National Aeronautics and Space Administration, NASA, has announced the occurrence of a partial lunar eclipse in Africa and some part of the globe including the United States, US.
Named ‘blood moon’, NASA said the eclipse will start on Friday in Africa at 9:23pm, ET, when the moon first enters the outer part of earth’s shadow till 10:33pm, ET, when the earth’s shadow starts to envelop the lunar surface, appearing to take a “bite” out of the lunar disk.
The eclipse is expected to peak at 12:12am, ET, when more than 96 percent of the lunar surface will be shrouded.
The event will end at 3:01am, ET, when the moon exits the outer edge of earth’s shadow.
Posting on its website, NASA wrote: “Aug. 27-28, 2026, partial in Americas, Europe, Africa, Western Asia.”
