Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

A motorcyclist identified as Usman Machiya has died after his Bajaj motorcycle reportedly ran over an improvised explosive device, IED, suspected to have been planted by Boko Haram terrorists in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

The incident occurred at about 4:00 pm on Friday, August 21, 2026, while Machiya, a resident of Gyada village, was travelling towards Baturen-Daji in Babanna District.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, Machiya was riding from Gyada village through Baturen-Daji when he encountered the suspected explosive device planted along the route.

“The explosive device detonated, killing him instantly,” Makama said.

Following the incident, the matter was reported to security authorities, while troops at the Forward Operating Base, FOB, Babanna, were alerted.

Other security agencies in the area were also placed on red alert after the explosion.

Security personnel have since heightened surveillance along the route and are checking the area for possible additional explosive devices.
