About the Consultancy
Buzz Women Gambia is seeking an experienced and qualified Safeguarding Consultant to support the organisation in strengthening its safeguarding systems, practices, policies, capacity and accountability.
The successful consultant will work closely with Buzz Women Gambia to review existing safeguarding arrangements and provide practical recommendations and support in line with recognised safeguarding standards and good practice.
Key Responsibilities
The consultant will, as detailed in the ToR:
- Review existing safeguarding policies, procedures and practices.
- Identify safeguarding gaps, risks and areas requiring improvement.
- Provide practical recommendations for strengthening safeguarding systems.
- Support the development or improvement of relevant safeguarding tools and procedures.
- Provide safeguarding awareness, training and/or capacity building for staff and relevant stakeholders.
- Strengthen safeguarding reporting, referral and response mechanisms.
- Prepare and submit agreed consultancy deliverables and a final report.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have:
- A relevant university degree or professional qualification in safeguarding, social work, development studies, child protection, gender, human rights, psychology, law or a related field.
- Demonstrated professional experience in safeguarding, protection, PSEA, child protection, GBV prevention, organisational safeguarding or related areas.
- Experience working with NGOs, civil society organisations, community-based organisations or development programmes.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding principles, risk management, prevention, reporting and response mechanisms.
- Strong analytical, facilitation, communication and report-writing skills.
- Experience developing or reviewing safeguarding policies and systems is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of the Gambian context and relevant safeguarding/legal frameworks will be an advantage.
