Rangers defeated Beninese club Sobemap FC 5-4 on penalties to qualify for the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
The Nigerian champions were held to a 1-1 draw by their hosts in the second leg of the first preliminary round tie at the Stade de Kegue, Lome on Friday.
The keenly contested encounter ended 2-2 on aggregate.
Rangers took the lead in the 22nd minute from an own goal.
Sobemap equalised with 25 minutes remaining on the clock.
The game went straight into penalties after both teams failed to find the winner.
Rangers prevailed 5-4 to seal a place in the next round of the competition.
Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side will face Algerian club MC Algers in the second preliminary round.
