CAF Champions League: Rivers United grab crucial away draw against San Pedro

Rivers United held San Pedro to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their CAF Champions League first preliminary round tie at the Laurent Pokou Stadium on Saturday.

Both teams failed to register a goal in the first half despite creating several clear-cut chances.

San Pedro took the lead 11 minutes after the restart through Issouf Dosso.

Substitute Iyowuna Douglas equalised for Rivers United in the 69th minute.

The reverse fixture will take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, next Sunday.

Nigeria’s other representatives in the competition, Rangers, will face SOBEMAP FC of Benin Republic at the Moshood Abiola Sports Complex, Abeokuta, on Sunday.
