undocumented immigrants and other security threats.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, said the operation was carried out following credible intelligence on the presence of undocumented foreign nationals within the battalion’s area of operation.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“Acting on credible intelligence, troops of the battalion, in conjunction with members of the Vigilante Group, raided a secluded fenced compound located at Imokun in the Odo-Noforija\u002FPoka axis of Epe.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“During the operation, 24 foreign nationals comprising 15 males and nine females were apprehended,” Yahaya said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>He said preliminary profiling showed that the suspects were nationals of six West and Central African countries, including Cameroon (10), Togo (6), Côte d’Ivoire (3), Republic of Benin (3), Burkina Faso (1) and Guinea-Bissau (1).\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>According to him, initial investigations were conducted to determine the suspects’ immigration status, purpose of stay and possible involvement in unlawful activities.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Yahaya added that efforts were ongoing to identify and question the owner of the premises to establish the circumstances More critically, the armed forces are repeatedly weaponised against Ndigbo in times of crisis,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>He pointed to the anti-Igbo killings by soldiers in Northern Nigeria in 1967, describing it as an unhealed wound that he said has been “constantly reopened” by more recent incidents involving youths suspected of IPOB links, citing the Nkpor, Aba prayer ground, Obigbo and Port Harcourt incidents as examples.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>He also said South-East youths are unsettled by the enlistment of former Boko Haram fighters who have gone through the military’s deradicalisation programme, arguing that serving under a command they distrust, alongside ex-insurgents, was a compromise many were unwilling to make.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Ejimakor concluded that the low enlistment figures amount to a form of quiet protest rather than an absence of patriotism.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>“To ask them to bleed under a biased command, alongside former terrorists, is a compromise of dignity they refuse to make,” he stated.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Shaibu’s appeal, which prompted Ejimakor’s post, is one of several such calls Army authorities have made in recent
