Chaos in the Ring returned to the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos, with a high-energy evening that brought together professional boxing, celebrity rivalries, entertainment and some of Nigeria’s most promising boxing talent.
From dramatic celebrity face-offs to career-defining professional victories, the event delivered the spectacle audiences have come to expect from Chaos in the Ring, while keeping its larger mission firmly in view: creating a bigger platform for African fighters.
The celebrity contests provided some of the night’s biggest talking points. The highly anticipated rematch between music star Habeeb Okikiola “Portable” Badmus and actor Charles Okocha, tagged Unfinished Business, ended dramatically after Portable was disqualified for leaving the ring before the conclusion of the opening round; with Okocha ultimately awarded the victory.
In the night’s other celebrity contest, Anifowoshe “Mr. Real” Ibrahim and Idowu “Idowest” Adeyemi battled through five rounds before the judges declared the contest a draw. Idowest disputed the decision, while organisers confirmed that the rivalry will continue with a rematch scheduled for October 1.
But beyond the celebrity spectacle, the professional fight card delivered the performances that sit at the heart of Chaos in the Ring.
One of the evening’s standout performances came from Basit “Joker Boy” Adebayo, who stopped Said Mohamed Hassan in the second round after controlling the contest from the opening bell. The young boxer, who has quickly become one of the emerging names on the platform, made no secret of his ambitions after the fight.
“I’m ready to be the face of Nigeria. I think I am currently the face of boxing in Nigeria.”
Yusuf Adeniji also secured a unanimous decision victory over Rilwan Lawal in their super-featherweight contest, while Shiloh “Sugar Shy” Defreitas defeated Ghana’s Eric “Kojo” Quarm by unanimous decision, adding an international dimension to the professional card.
Another major highlight came from Suleiman Jafaru, who produced one of the most memorable performances of the evening by stopping former British super-welterweight champion Samuel Antwi with a stunning knockout.
The victory earned Jafaru an immediate promotional contract with Balmoral Promotions and a brand-new electric vehicle courtesy of EV Automobiles, turning an exceptional night in the ring into a potentially life-changing career moment.
The evening also spotlighted the journey of Michael Babalola, who made his professional boxing debut through Chaos in the Ring. Before turning professional, Babalola had competed in more than 70 amateur fights and won a gold medal at the National Sports Festival. With support from the Bank of Industry (BOI), he made the transition into professional boxing on the Chaos in the Ring platform and secured a victory, marking the beginning of what organisers hope will be a significant professional career.
His story reflects a larger ambition behind the event: not simply to stage entertaining fights, but to build pathways through which talented Nigerian athletes can move from amateur competition to professional careers.
That ambition was echoed by Dr. Ezekiel Adamu, Founder of Chaos in the Ring and Group Managing Director of Balmoral Group.

The latest edition also featured support from leading brands including Bet9ja, EV Automobiles, Bank of Industry (BOI), Octerra Capital, Fearless Energy Drink, GIG Logistics, Amstel Ultra and GMB Luxury, reflecting the growing commercial interest surrounding African boxing and sports entertainment.
For the fighters, however, the significance goes beyond numbers and spectacle. Chaos in the Ring is increasingly becoming a space where athletes can earn, gain visibility, attract professional opportunities and build careers in front of an audience that extends beyond the traditional boxing community.
