ABUJA — The Civil Society Coalition for Human Equality Initiative (CSCHEI), a United Nations-recognised platform of accredited civil society organisations (CSOs) and community-based organisations (CBOs), has commended President Bola Tinubu for directing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to vacate the court order freezing the Osun State Government’s accounts.
In a statement, the Director-General of CSCHEI, Hon. Kunle Yusuff, described the President’s intervention as timely, while reaffirming the coalition’s support for the anti-corruption mandate of the EFCC.
He said the coalition recognised the commission’s responsibility to investigate suspected financial misconduct and maintained that any account found to be suspicious should be subjected to due legal process without political interference.
According to him, some member organisations of CSCHEI have collaborated with the EFCC on advocacy and public enlightenment campaigns aimed at strengthening the fight against corruption.
Yusuff said the coalition remained committed to working with federal government agencies to promote transparency, accountability and the rule of law.
He also expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for what he described as a responsive intervention, saying it reflected a willingness to listen to concerns and ensure that the Osun State Government’s accounts were unfrozen without political interference.
