Customs reveals why successful applicants are yet to get training invitation

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, has revealed the main reason successful applicants in its ongoing recruitment have not yet gotten training invitations.

This is as the agency clarified that candidates whose names appeared on its published recruitment list are not automatically guaranteed appointment.

It explained that final screening is still ongoing before successful applicants are admitted for training.

The clarification is coming against the backdrop of complaints by applicants.

Some of the applicants had cried out that they passed the Computer-Based Test, physical examination and initial screening, accepted their offer on the official recruitment portal and saw their names on the list of successful applicants, but are yet to get their training invitations ahead of the exercise scheduled to start on Friday.

They expressed uncertainty over their status after training invitations reportedly stopped on Monday.

Some said they had already resigned from their former jobs and spent money after thinking their appointments were secured.

But reacting, the Customs spokesman, Abdullahi Maiwada, said having one’s name published does not mean automatic employment into the Service.

Maiwada stated that candidates must still pass the physical screening and meet other requirements before they can be admitted into the training college and finally commissioned as officers.

“I will start my response first with a question. Did anyone who complained to you inform you that they have been issued an appointment letter?

“So that means the process is still ongoing. Secondly, the essence of screening is to have a physical examination of successful candidates,” he said.
