The Senate President, Inspector General (IG) of Police and the Chairman of the Police Service Commission have been called upon to immediately commence the investigation and disciplining of the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Zone 2, Jimoh Moshood, over alleged complicity in the demolition of a property worth over N1 billion in Lekki, Lagos.

The AIG, who is being accused of land grabbing, abuse of office, abuse of power, malicious destruction and force entry over the property known as Plot 77 Lekki Phase 1, Lagos state, is alleged to have acted in flagrant disobedience of an order of the Court of Appeal, Lagos.

In three separate petitions dated October 27 but received by the various officials between October 28-30, the AIG Zone 2 Officer was alleged to have acted in company of some others in the demolition of the said property, despite being aware of the pendency of the suit at the appellate court which had issued a Stay of Execution and status quo order, over the demolished property.

The petitions were written on behalf of the petitioner, a Lagos socialite, businessman and philanthropist; Alhaji Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye, by his lawyer, an Abuja-based human rights activist, Marshal Abubakar.

The petitioner who identified himself as the beneficial owner of the property with Certificate of Occupancy no; 50/50/1990A, disclosed that the property situated at Lekki Peninsula Scheme 1, was issued in the name of his elder brother, Samuel Alao Ajibade, from whom he derived title upon purchase.

He further stated that he and his family members have been in peaceable possession since he purchased the said land and built on the land a family home and foundation for ten additional houses valued at over One Billion Naira (₦1,000,000,000).

He explained that subsequent to his purchase and erection of structures on the said land, a company known as Skyview Properties Ltd. (a company with strong ties to the former senate president, Bukola Saraki) instituted an action against Ajibode over the said land, thus the subject property is currently an active matter of litigation in an ongoing lawsuit before the Court of Appeal of Lagos State in Appeal no; CA/LAG/CV/123/2025.

According to him, the rightful ownership of the land has not yet been determined or ascertained by a court of competent jurisdiction.

“Crucially, the Court had explicitly issued a subsisting Stay of Execution and status quo order, strictly restraining all parties, state actors, and law enforcement agencies from interfering with, demolishing, or altering the state of the property pending the final judicial outcome of the suit”, the petition read in part.

It added that to their utmost surprise, AIG Moshood, allegedly acting entirely out of personal, selfish, and pecuniary interest in the land, mobilized heavily armed tactical police detachments alongside heavy-duty demolition machinery to the site.

“Operating entirely without any valid court order, warrant of execution, or legal directive, he enforced the absolute destruction and flattening of our client’s property worth over ₦1,000,000,000. Please find attached pictorial evidence of the acts complained of herein.

“This lawless and malicious demolition was brazenly executed despite AIG Jimoh Moshood being fully aware of the pending suit and the clear, serving Stay of Execution order. When presented with the official court records and the stay order by the owner’s representatives on-site, AIG Jimoh Moshood and his officers aggressively discarded the judicial directives, choosing instead to operate as a law unto themselves to aid illicit land-grabbing interests.

“The petitioner explained he had initially authored a petition dated October 19, 2026 through the law firm; Rose of Sharon Solicitors. Although the petitioned was submitted and acknowledged at the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2, Lagos on 19/10/2026, it is our brief that AIG Zone 2 (AIG Jimoh Moshood) collected the said petition and tore same to shreds, boasting that he is sitting on the case and that there is nothing anybody can do about it. Please find attached the acknowledgement copy of the said correspondence”, the letters read.

Among reliefs sought included: A Thorough Investigation: employ the instrumentalities of your good offices to cause a dispassionate and wholistic investigation into the issues raised in the instant correspondence.

“Disciplinary Action: Initiate immediate disciplinary and administrative measures against AIG Jimoh Moshood and other liable oficers for flagrant disobedience of a valid court order and for acting maliciously without judicial authorization.

“Enforce the Stay of Execution: Direct the Lagos State Command to strictly respect the court-ordered Stay of Execution to prevent any illegal transferring or possession of the land while the lawsuit is pending.

“Criminal Accountability: Ensure that all actors involved in the malicious damage to property worth ₦1,000,000,000 are held fully accountable under criminal and civil provisions”.
