Nollywood actress Temi Kosoko, daughter of veteran actor Jide Kosoko, has said that divorce is often misunderstood when it involves actors, noting that it is a normal part of society but becomes more visible due to public attention.
Speaking in an interview with Oyinmomo TV, she explained that celebrity relationships are judged more harshly and widely discussed than those of non-public figures.
“Divorce happens every month worldwide. It’s not a new thing that people get divorced,” she said. “The problem is that when actors divorce, it becomes popular and very public.”
Temi added that there are many reasons marriages fail and that these reasons are not necessarily tied to profession.
“There are so many reasons people divorce. It might not even have anything to do with their work,” she said.
Beyond her views on marriage, the actress also opened up about public perception of her family and career struggles, saying she often feels misunderstood.
“I work hard, and sometimes it just hurts that people don’t see my hard work. They say it’s because of my father’s name. Yes, to be honest, it is my father’s name that has brought me this far,” she said.
She further noted that assumptions about her personality affect how she is received in the industry.
“A lot of people think we are proud. When we enter a room, even without speaking, they already assume we are proud. That was the beginning of the problem,” she added.
