Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

The Naira continued its three-day depreciation against the United States dollar at the official foreign exchange market, ending the week on a negative note.

Central Bank of Nigeria data showed that the Naira weakened further to N1,365.69 against the dollar on Friday, down from N1,364.88 exchanged on Thursday.

This means that, on a day-to-day basis, the Nigerian currency dropped by N0.81 per dollar.

At the black market, the Naira remained unchanged at N1,430 per dollar on Friday, the same rate recorded on Thursday.

Meanwhile, at the foreign exchange market, the country’s external reserves appreciated to $52.03 billion on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

The development comes as the Naira recorded more depreciation than gains in the week under review.

DAILY POST reports that the Naira depreciated by N2.53 and N5 against the dollar on a week-on-week basis at the official and parallel foreign exchange markets, respectively.
