The naira on Friday continued its appreciation against the US dollar at both the official and parallel foreign exchange markets, ending the week on a positive note.

Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, showed that the naira strengthened further to N1,362.09 per dollar on Friday, up from N1,367.76 per dollar recorded the previous day.

This means the Nigerian currency appreciated by N5.67 against the dollar on a day-to-day basis.

Similarly, at the black market, the naira strengthened by N10 to N1,410 per dollar on Friday, up from N1,420, according to a Bureau de Change operator in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja.

Further analysis indicated that, on a week-on-week basis, the naira appreciated by N18.19 and N15 against the dollar at the official and parallel foreign exchange markets, respectively.

The continued appreciation of the Nigerian currency across the foreign exchange markets comes as the country’s foreign reserves stood at $52.02 billion as of July 23, 2026.
