The naira extended its appreciation against the dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Thursday.
Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, showed that the naira strengthened further to N1,331.61 per dollar on Thursday, compared with N1,332.59 recorded on Wednesday.
This means that the naira appreciated by N0.98 against the dollar on a day-to-day basis.
At the parallel market, also known as the black market, the naira traded at N1,375 per dollar on Thursday, the same rate recorded on Wednesday.
The mixed sentiments across the foreign exchange markets came as the country’s external reserves recorded their first slight decline in months, dropping to $55.09 billion.
Recall that the naira appreciated against the dollar for the first time this week on Wednesday.
