The Nigerian naira exhibited stability across foreign exchange windows on Thursday, October 8, 2026, maintaining a steady band in both the official Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) and the parallel (street) market.

At the official NFEM trading window, the US dollar exchanged at approximately ₦1,330.87 to ₦1,331.77.Market watchers noted that official rates have hovered within a tight consolidation zone over recent sessions, supported by regulated interventions and consistent liquidity flow through authorized dealer banks.

Meanwhile, in the parallel or Bureau De Change (BDC) market, the greenback was quoted for buying at around ₦1,375 and traded for selling at approximately ₦1,390. This represents minimal movement compared to earlier in the week, reflecting a period of balanced supply and demand dynamics among retail buyers, corporate importers, and international travelers seeking immediate access to foreign exchange.

Financial analysts attribute the current stability to steady foreign currency inflows and cautious market sentiment. While corporate demand for trade obligations and school fees continues to exert routine pressure on unofficial channels, the narrowing spread between the official market and parallel market rates continues to offer relative predictability for market participants.
