The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, Abdulaziz Yari, has defended the recent fuel price hike in Nigeria, saying the country cannot be an exception.
Speaking at the APC presidential campaign rally in Calabar, Cross River State on Monday, Yari said even Saudi Arabia, which is one of the biggest oil producers in the world, has increased its own fuel price.
According to him, the hike in fuel price is not only happening in Nigeria but all over the world because of the rise in crude oil price in the international market.
He said, "Nigeria can't be an exception, there's fuel price hike in Saudi Arabia. Even Saudi Arabia, which produces more oil than us, has increased fuel prices, so why should Nigeria be different?"
Yari said Nigerians should understand that the price of fuel is determined by the international market and not by the government alone.
He urged Nigerians to be patient and support the government, saying the fuel subsidy removal will bring long-term benefits to the country.
