OWERRI — Prophet Chibueze Hazel Akwiwu has urged Nigerians not to be alarmed by the controversy surrounding the Muslim-Muslim ticket, saying religious differences should not distract the country from the pursuit of good governance and national development.
Akwiwu made the call on Monday while responding to questions from journalists in Owerri on comments attributed to Islamic cleric, Sheikh Yahaya Jingir, regarding the likelihood of Christians supporting President Bola Tinubu’s administration in the 2027 election.
The cleric dismissed the remarks attributed to Jingir, describing them as a “spirit of error” and alleging that the cleric had been manipulated.
Akwiwu said President Bola Tinubu did not come to power to pursue a religious agenda, but was being guided towards good governance and national development.
“God is directing the President towards good governance and national development. Therefore, nobody should panic concerning the statement of the Muslim cleric on Muslim-Muslim ticket. That is a spirit of error; he was manipulated,” he said.
The prophet said previous attempts to undermine the Tinubu administration had failed, expressing confidence that the controversy over the Muslim-Muslim ticket would not derail the government.
“They came with insult format, it did not hold ground. Now they have come with Muslim-Muslim ticket; it will not still hold ground,” he stated.
Akwiwu also called for peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, particularly Christians and Muslims, stressing that religious affiliation should not be viewed as a barrier to good governance.
“As a spiritual man, I’m telling you that Muslims in Nigeria are not a threat to good governance,” he added.
He urged Nigerians to remain calm and focus on governance, development and peaceful coexistence rather than allowing religious sentiments to deepen divisions in the country.
However, Akwiwu also expressed his Christian belief about the eventual conversion of Muslims to Christianity, citing biblical passages, including Acts 28:28 and Romans 9:30–33, in support of his position.
