Victoria University’s vice chancellor, Dr. Lawrence Muganga’s Dual Citizenship Process Concludes as Focus Shifts to Educational Contributions.
KAMPALA — A formal administrative step has officially concluded the citizenship process for educator Dr. Lawrence Muganga, following the Rwandan government’s publication of his voluntary renunciation of Rwandan nationality.
According to an official notice published in the Rwandan Official Gazette (No. Special Bis of July 24, 2026), the Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration confirmed that Dr. Muganga—born in Mukono, Uganda, on February 14, 1976—has voluntarily completed the formal process to relinquish his Rwandan nationality.
The development highlights Dr. Muganga’s long-standing dedication to the Ugandan education sector. Speaking on his nationalization process, Internal Affairs Minister Gen. Kahinda Otafiire commended Dr. Muganga’s impactful work in the country, noting that his approval for Ugandan citizenship was rooted in his valuable service in educating Ugandan citizens.
“I helped him gain citizenship because he was teaching Ugandan citizens,” Gen. Otafiire stated, affirming the positive impact Dr. Muganga has made through his professional expertise and commitment to national development.
With the official documentation now completed across both jurisdictions, the resolution provides clarity on Dr. Muganga’s status as he continues his focus on advancing education and socio-economic growth in Uganda.
