Daily Post about 3 hours 1 mins read

The Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa, rtd, has raised concerns over the increasing rate of substance abuse in Nigeria, warning that drug dependence is fast becoming a national emergency.

Speaking at the third edition of the “Fly Above the High” conference in Abuja, Marwa said the growing drug crisis poses serious threats to families, communities, the economy and national security.

“Substance abuse affects personal development, societal development, the economy and the security of the country.” he said.

Mr Marwa called for urgent and coordinated action to address the menace, stressing that drug abuse is eroding the future of many young Nigerians and requires a national response involving government agencies, schools, families and community leaders.
