The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, has intensified health surveillance across all airports in the country, making travellers across Nigeria face tighter checks following the confirmed Ebola case in Abuja.
The Federal Government confirmed one Ebola case in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, on Tuesday.
DAILY POST reports that the woman patient travelled from Uganda and is now in isolation and receiving treatment.
FAAN said it is working with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, Port Health Services, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA and other agencies to stop the spread.
The agency's director, Henry Agbebire, in a statement said airport operations will remain on high alert.
He said passengers, airline staff and airport workers will go through more checks, adding that the early detection of the case and contact tracing of 44 persons shows that health protocols are working.
FAAN told travellers to remain calm, cooperate with health officials at airports and avoid spreading fake news, noting that it would continue to follow advice from health authorities and bring in more measures if needed to protect passengers and workers.
