Ebonyi Police Announce Movement Ban Ahead Of Saturday L.G Elections

InformationNG about 3 hours 2 mins read

The Ebonyi State Police Command has announced a restriction on movement across the state on Saturday as residents head to the polls for the Local Government elections.

According to the police, security personnel will be deployed to polling stations and other strategic locations across the state to maintain peace and ensure the election is conducted without disruption.

The movement restriction will be in effect from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on election day. However, election officials, accredited journalists, election observers, emergency responders and health workers will be exempted from the restriction. Those covered by the exemption are expected to carry valid identification and official credentials to pass through security checkpoints.

The Commissioner of Police said the command is working closely with other security agencies to provide adequate security across all 13 Local Government Areas of the state.

She also warned politicians and their supporters against making inflammatory or provocative comments capable of undermining the electoral process, stressing that anyone found violating the directive would face serious consequences.

Voters have been urged to remain calm, obey lawful instructions from security personnel and avoid violence or any action that could interfere with the smooth conduct of the election.

The police assured residents that adequate security measures would be in place before, during and after the election, while urging the public to report suspicious activities or security threats through the command’s emergency lines.
