Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested two staff members of GUO Transport Company, identified as Godwin Emeka and Enearu Louis, with arms and ammunition.
The duo were also allegedly found with three bags containing substances suspected to be cannabis.
The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Patrick Daaor, disclosed this to newsmen in Benin City.
Daaor said the suspects were arrested on October 20, 2026, during a stop-and-search operation at a designated checkpoint along the Benin–Lagos Road.
He said the operatives intercepted a Toyota Ultra bus with registration number AGU721ZL, belonging to GUO Transport Company.
The police said the vehicle was driven by Godwin Emeka, 37, while Enearu Louis, 40, identified as the transport company’s operational manager, was also in the vehicle.
He listed the items recovered during a search of the vehicle to include 100 rounds of 7.62mm AK-47 live ammunition, 50 rounds of 7.65mm-calibre live ammunition, 200 rounds of 9mm-calibre live ammunition and three bags containing cannabis.
Daaor also disclosed that a 30-year-old suspect, identified as Osakpanwan Ekuase, was arrested for allegedly stealing five cars in Benin City.
He said the suspect, who allegedly posed as a worker, stole the vehicles from a mechanic workshop in Ogheghe Community, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, in the Benin metropolis.
He added that the suspect arrested on August 30, 2026, would be charged to court after the completion of investigations.
