EFCC arraigns Kano man over alleged N34.8m spaghetti deal

Daily Post 10 minutes 2 mins read

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken Halifa Abdulmajid before the Kano State High Court over allegations that he received N34.875 million for a spaghetti supply deal but failed to deliver the goods.

The defendant appeared before Justice Musa Karaye on a one-count charge of criminal misappropriation involving money allegedly belonging to Fahad Adaji.

The charge sheet stated that the alleged offence took place in Kano between September and October 2024.

According to the prosecution, the money was transferred to a First Bank account held by Muazu Abdullahi following Abdulmajid’s instructions. The funds were reportedly meant to facilitate the purchase of IRS Spaghetti from BUA.

The commission accused Abdulmajid of dishonestly misappropriating the money, an offence punishable under Sections 308 and 309 of the Kano State Penal Code Law.

Upon the reading of the charge, the defendant denied the allegation by entering a plea of not guilty.

Prosecution counsel, Mustapha Maiwada, subsequently asked the court to fix a date for trial and order the defendant’s remand in a custodial facility.

Justice Karaye granted the request and directed that Abdulmajid be held in a correctional facility pending further proceedings.

The court adjourned the matter until November 2 for the commencement of the hearing.
